I started this blog to write about the things I like, buy, lust after and want to share. All of my thoughts and opinions are my own and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If I don’t like something, I will be honest about it, whether I’ve bought it myself or was given it as a gift or for review.
Nearly all of the items I photograph or wear have been bought by myself, usually from car boots or charity shops, but sometimes I am offered suitable items in exchange for placement or mention on Pretty Much Penniless. By ‘suitable’ I mean products which I myself would buy and which I feel fit with the ethos and general feel of my blog. I have previously turned down many offers for free items because I either did not like them and hence would not promote them, or I felt that readers would simply not be interested. Cutting-edge leather bumbag/fanny pack anyone? I jest.
Taking inspiration from a method used by llymlrs, all items that are sent to me for review, include in outfit posts or paid for with store credit/gift-cards, from August 2011, will be marked with an asterisk (*). Prior to this, items sent to me for free have been mentioned in the content of the post.
The reason behind my decision to use this method is to provide an easier, clearer way to communicate this information to my readers. I feel it gives everyone a better idea of how my blog operates and allows me greater transparency.
I do accept sponsored posts, links and advertising (both from large and small companies) on Pretty Much Penniless, but only if I can incorporate them seamlessly into the theme of this blog and not deviate from my original passion by doing so. All such sponsored posts or links will be indicated in the the post's tags.
I can spend anything between 15 and 25 hours a week blogging and receiving compensation, as long as it is fair and unobtrusive and relevant to my readers, is a huge bonus for me and helps me to continue doing what I love.
