Last night My Sugarland opened their doors to us, a slightly rain-dampened but excitable, host of bloggers for a night of dress up, popping candy chocolate, Illamasqua make-overs and an awful lot of ‘I want! I want!’ Veruca Salt-style outbursts.
My Sugarland was borne from the love of beautiful things and stylist Zoe Lem’s irrepressible dream to share them with a wider, eager audience.
In her own words, the dream included: ‘a place containing the most exquisite clothes, accessories and objects from around the globe. Some were new, some were old but all were beautiful. The windows and walls of the place were adorned with works of art from talented artisans and crafts people and the place was a joy to visit with lots of launches and events happening regularly. When she woke up, she set about bringing the dream to life...’
And bring it to life she did, a thousand-fold. This boutique space close to Angel tube in Islington is home to luxury vintage pieces (including some truly amazing vintage wedding dresses which I stayed close to all night, wishing and hoping), specially selected designers including Jaspar Garvida, Belle Sauvage, Betty Jackson, Laura Lees, PPQ and Terry De Havilland and the My Sugarland team were on hand to help everyone choose their favourite pieces to try on.
I had a great night and finally got to meet some girls I've been chatting online with for ages- Sarah V from SBV, Sarah D from Silence Sweetheart, Sarah D no.2 from The Enchanted Hunters, Sarah from Sarah Scribbles (yes FOUR Sarah's!) Lucy from Snippets of Shiny Thoughts, Katie Antoniou from London Plinth and some familiar favourites- Carrie from Wish Wish Wish, Amy from Wolf Whistle, Fi from Save Our Shoes and Christina from A Sense Sublime.
As a total homebody, it really is brilliant to have a meet up once in a while and totally worth it for such lovely girls! More soon please!
