My brother has always been very good at being quite intuitive when it comes to choosing presents for me and when I opened this one belatedly yesterday I knew nothing had changed. A gorgeous two finger ring engraved with the words 'Fortes Fortuna Adjuvat' meaning 'Fortune Favours the Brave' or something thereabouts. I love the double finger rings that are out at the moment- ASOS and Topshop are awash with them but he looked to Etsy and found Mercurios who specialise in aluminium and copper jewellery.
The pieces can be stamped with any quote, phrase, initials or name and are really reasonably priced for something handmade and customised. Since aluminium is so flexible a metal, they can be adjusted to suit any two fingers and are comfortable and light to wear. If you never considered aluminium jewellery, think again- it's great as it's cheap but doesn't tarnish or stain your fingers green with wear or exposure to water.
I love the quote Tom chose, it will serve to remind me to speak up and have courage- something I have always had a little trouble with. What quote would you choose? What do you sometimes need reminding of?
wow, these have to be the most intricate two fingers rings i've seen! & it's so cute that your brother picked it out. it means so much when they get it right doesn't it?! i quite like 'don't let the bastards grind you down'. because sometimes i need reminding to not let people affect me.

What a great gift! God, my brother has no clue when it comes to my taste (but, to be fair, I'm the same with him!).
ReplyDeleteYou should get one with your name stamped on it backwards and then when you punch people they'll be marked with your name. NOT that you do stuff like that. :)
These are absolutely gorgeous, I have a copper and aluminium ring I got a little while back and this was look great on the other hand!
ReplyDeleteYour bro has great taste.

High five to your bro - what a great present! I think you should get a few diamonds sewn into it and rock it for a wedding ring, no? ;) haha just joking! Seriously, so unusual though. Haha sarah's comment made me giggle! xx
