Pastel macarons & a wish list

I spent Sunday afternoon wandering around Battersea car boot sale with Ed. I know some of you have been, but oh my gosh- is absolutely massive! We were there for about two and a half hours and I don't think I even looked at all the stalls. A heinous crime I know.

One thing I noticed is that there were lots of stylists there, selling off samples, BNWT clothing and almost new make up. I got 7 OPI nailvarnishes for about a fiver and a full size Lily Lolo powder £2.

I also bagged a lovely Cath Kidston dress for £5, which I plan on ebaying and another two vintages dresses for my future Etsy store along with the vintage french film magazines above for £1 a piece. Cary Grant swoon.

I then spent the evening making the macarons above from this recipe
here and ok, so they might not look as professional as the Laduree beauties, but they were bloody delicious! I added lots of colouring to make them pastel pink and used a tiny bit of strawberry jam and lashings of buttercream for the filling.

It is my birthday in approx 11 days and that means it's time for me to make a little list, sleep with it under my pillow and hope wish that some of the items magically appear on Friday 27th!

  6. Will have to check out Battersea car boot. That is a wonderful wish list, all the best people were born at the end of August. Mine is 13 days away and my wishlist is a sewing machine and someone to fix my 60s dansette record player

  9. Admittedly, my time there was cut short because people started packing up, but I got round most of it in an hour. Would have liked more time to rummage, though.

Love everything here except that tee shirt, which I think is horrible, sorry! (Is that a really mean thing to say on someone else's blog? Maybe I should just keep my mouth shut.) I LOVE that bed and love that colour of Neely, w.o.w. Yes, rip-off please!

  11. That bed is one of the most amazing beds I think I have ever seen...literally! I remember always looking in the Argos catalogue when I was a kid and swooning over all the cool bunk beds, they have nothing on this though!

What a wonderful wish-list, and those vintage French film magazines look quite adorable xx

  23. Love the bed and it's now in my imaginary house where everything else i lust is - one day i'll be able to afford these things! *sigh * Just wanted to let you know that should the rabbit ring not show up on your birthday that I got a very similar style of ring in Accessorize but it was white and plastic. I don't know if they'd have in England (I'm Irish) but you could have a look?

  25. Well first of all, congrats on the macarons! I still can't seem to be able to gather up the nerve and try a recipe out. Not I could just maybe try your recipe, might not look all the way professional, but they DO look good.

Second, such a good wish list! That bed is awesome, I've been having it in my "Pretty pictures box" folder since forever, the Tim Walker, a must! and the animal jewelry, amazing! Can't believe I didn't see those stag hoops at Topshop before. And speaking of Topshop, have you seen the fabric print bag that they have? Similar to the New Look one, but with some more structure.

Anyhow, looking forward to seeing which of these materialize on the 27th ;)

    Kisses,

    I
